At the end of Maple Street stands a forgotten lot — weeds through cracks, paint peeling from the fence — and most people walk past without noticing. But ten-year-old Maya stops, looks through the gaps, and wonders what it could become. In her notebook she writes: MY BIG IDEA. A community garden. A reading corner. A stage. 'Do you think people would really listen to us? I'm only ten.' At the neighborhood council meeting, Maya sits in the back row with jumping frogs in her stomach — then stands up, and the questions come: Who will look after it? Who will pay? What if people damage it? Her big idea suddenly feels very small. But Arjun whispers the sentence that changes everything: 'Maybe they're not trying to stop your idea. Maybe they're helping you make it better.' So Maya makes a new page — WHAT COULD GO WRONG? — and asks the whole street what they actually want. Heartwarming story about neighbors coming together. My kids loved it. As a parent I found the message a little on-the-nose, but that's honestly fine for this age group.
