About this story
Little hands can do BIG things! Tiko is the littlest elephant in the house, and he is sure he is too small to help. Then Mama hangs a star chart on the fridge with little jobs for little hands. Toys in the basket, socks in the tub, water for the plant (oops!), spoons for dinner and a pinch of food for Bubbles the fish. One gold star at a time, Tiko discovers that being a helper makes the whole family smile. A cheerful read-aloud about responsibility, routines and fixing mistakes. For ages 3-5.
- Helper — someone who does a job that helps
- Chore — a small job around the house
- Star chart — a chart that shows the jobs you finished
- Responsible — doing your jobs without being told
- Mistake — something that goes wrong by accident
- Fix — to put something right again
- Proud — pleased with something you did
- Routine — the same jobs done in the same order

What Parents Say
Families sharing their experiences with our books and family safety tools.
After reading this, my daughter started asking about how lighthouses work and we ended up looking up videos together. Anything that gets her that curious is a win in my book.
The rhythm of this book is so soothing. It's become our Sunday-morning read. The river metaphor opened up a real conversation about listening to nature with my kids.
A beautiful, quiet story. On high-energy days my 6-year-old can't sit through it, but on calm evenings it's perfect. The language is genuinely lovely.
