On a sunny afternoon by the sea, five friends spot a tall, dark lighthouse standing alone on the rocky shore — its light hasn't shone in many years, its paint is faded, and its windows are dusty. Inside, past the creaky door, they discover a wooden shelf holding five dusty crystals, each glowing faintly, each labeled: Confidence, Innovation, Objectivity, Reflection, Responsibility. Then the storm rolls in, huge waves crash against the rocks, and the children are trapped until it passes — and the youngest one, scared but steady, steps forward first: sometimes courage means moving forward even when you're afraid. One by one, the crystals wake as the friends live their lessons: a held-hand line across the slippery floor lights the Crystal of Confidence, and a gear of cardboard and string that brings the dead lantern room back to life lights the Crystal of Innovation. A chapter-style quest that turns five thinking skills into a lighthouse brought back to light.
- Crystal — a glowing, magical stone
- Confidence — believing you can, even when you feel afraid
- Innovation — inventing a new way to solve a problem
- Objectivity — looking at the facts, not just the feelings
- Reflection — thinking back about what happened and what it means
- Responsibility — taking care of what must be done
- Lantern — the bright lamp at the very top of a lighthouse
- Gear — a toothed wheel that makes a machine turn
