About this story
During afternoon read-aloud, a deep DONG rattles the library shelves — and one book spine begins to glow soft blue: Theo's Tunnels. Adventure number two is on! After dark, Alex, Jamie, and Sam return to the back shelves, where the warm book creaks open like a yawn, revealing a jagged tunnel entrance breathing cool air that smells of ink and wet stone. Old journals tumble out — an Explorer Log from 1896 that mentions locked echoes and shadow plagues. Armed with Jamie's sparkling echo dust, the trio squeezes inside single file: walls glowing blueberry-blue with humming runes, three tall doors warning of fire, water, and wind, and a truth door found by watching how the dust beads true blue. Beyond it waits a cavern stacked with books, where inky shadow bookworms giggle as they munch glowing pages — and Jamie's homemade dazzler, a flashlight mixed with echo dust, lights up the fight. A fast, funny library-labyrinth adventure for young mystery lovers.

What Parents Say
Families sharing their experiences with our books and family safety tools.
After reading this, my daughter started asking about how lighthouses work and we ended up looking up videos together. Anything that gets her that curious is a win in my book.
The rhythm of this book is so soothing. It's become our Sunday-morning read. The river metaphor opened up a real conversation about listening to nature with my kids.
A beautiful, quiet story. On high-energy days my 6-year-old can't sit through it, but on calm evenings it's perfect. The language is genuinely lovely.
